tjhunt2 Report post Posted April 28, 2014 This has become my favorite time of year. The bluegills have come up from parts unknown. I fished with my dad on Friday and we caught somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 and brought home 41 that could be filet. Then Peg and I hit Saguaro before daylight this morning and caught over 200 and managed to bring home 56 that was worth cleaning. The fun I had on both these days can't be made up. It's almost like finding your elk after putting an arrow in it. Talk about excitement. Yes, bluegill fishing has always been in my blood ever since my parents introduced me to it when I was just getting out of diapers. This is the time of year to get the kids out there and introduce them to fishing. The action is non stop and the joy you will experience watching your kids can't be matched by anything. My dad will turn 85 this year and I laughed so hard at him catching bluegills on Friday that I thought I would bust a gut. I think about the times he took me fishing and now it's me taking him. I know I'm a blessed man and I hope each and everyone of you get to experience the same with a love one. Then I got to have another awesome time today with my wife even though she kept catching dinks LoL Actually she out fished me again for the one hundreds time. I haven't ever figured that one out. When the bass fishermen ask how we are doing I say awesome and then they laugh when I say I'm fishing for bluegills. Here are a few pictures. My best friend and fishing partner. He will turn 85yrs this year. Some of our bigger bluegills. They take a lot of work. Peg taking out the ribs Choco helping rinse Emma is 4 never fished but knows how to help me clean fish. Peg does daycare and all the children that come thru our house has helped skinned or helped clean fish. Part of the program weather the parents like it or not. Not a bad bunch for 41 bluegills. Peg catching all the dinks. Actually she out fishes me every time. Still can't figure that one out. Now that fun. I'm in this situation quite often. Lexie thinks all these fish are her babies. She makes sure they are get put in the live well. 56 fish here and will make awesome fish tacos. Other than Lexie making sure all the fish go put in the live well she got her exercise in at the end of the day. TJ

POB Report post Posted April 28, 2014 What are you using for bait?
tjhunt2 Report post Posted April 28, 2014 What are you using for bait? Meal worms from Wal-Mart. Crawlers work but the meal worms are less messy and work twice as good. $2.plus change. TJ
