Savage build

Recommended Posts

Go here they rent out reamers and go/no go gauges. Also the wrench you will want to buy depending on which nut you have smooth or notched I would buy both and midway offers them as a set.

The wheeler wrenches work just fine. Ever hear about the one behind the trigger? It makes a difference. I have both the nut and receiver wrench, they work great. Were do you live? you will need the go/no go gauges.

WOW nice job. I just ordered me an HS Precision stock, Shilen barrel 6.5 creemoor, NSS Barrel nut, NSS action wrench, NSS barrel nut wrench, Rifle basics trigger, Mason G/No go gauge, NSS recoil lug, and kiff lambeth complete bolt assembly. Should be just what I am looking for. I love my rifle as stock but want it to be a mostly custom rifle.

Thanks I never even shot this rifle stock. I got it for a good price and just started ordering parts for it. I ended up keeping it 308 and not switching to 6.5

fyi Bubbacoues this is what I paid for my stuff:

Shilen Stainles select match 6.5 cm 1;8 twist- 339.00

northland shooter supply (NSS) trued barrel nut- 28.00

NSS trued recoil lug- 27.00

NSS barrel nut wrench- 25.00

NSS action wrench- 60.00

rifle basix 14oz to 3lbs trigger- 85.00

Northland Shooters supply was the cheapest and easiest to deal with. Everything was in stock and shipped the same day. They carry Shilen and Criterion barrels and from what I have read from others that have done reviews on prefit barrels these 2 manufactures are the best. I was looking at the McGowen but then changed my mind when I heard poor reviews from recent buyers. Could not find a negative review on the Shilen or Criterion barrels.

I am really interested to see how good of a shooter that barrel you have is. Please post up some pics here or shoot me over a PM. The Savages are soo much fun to work on. I really did not need the stuff I ordered but why not I wanted the best of the best. Now I have 3650.00 invested in my rifle and I have not done the bolt yet. :)

Will do. I got my viper hs lr in today. Bought some reloder 15 and some 178 amax. After I break in the barrel will see how well she shoots with match ammo and hand loads.

McGowen stands behind their work, excellent CS. I prefer to buy direct from a manufacture. Benchmark is also excellent to deal with and provide their barrels on time, and they will make any contour you desire. They are also extremely accurate.
