Any bowhunter success?

Recommended Posts

That is pretty cool!!! And you got him bowhunting, cant' beat it!!!!!

Ya... he harvested his first P & Y Coues deer at age 12. He is kinda on my butt because I have not posted ALL his coues deer pics on the site...... but holly crap, he has 4 rifle bucks (one in NM) and 4 archery bucks (thought it was 5, but was wrong). That is a lot of posting..... guess I could still put them in the photogalleries. Might be kinda fun to see his age progression and the bucks too.

post-996-1169928349_thumb.jpgNice buck crazy$COUES! Congrats!!!

I am posting another buck..... today for my son, Colton. Colton is one of the best, if not The Best, archery coues deer hunters I know. He has logged more hours in the woods after a monster coues than any two hunters I know. This is his 5th coues buck with a bow..... while it is no "monster"..... it is a good buck that he is happy to have taken. Colton was fortunate enough to have seen 6 different bucks that would have taped at over 100" this January..... only one time was he able to get off a shot..... and was rejected by a tree branch that was between him and that monster buck at 40yds. He passed up bucks in the 80" and 90" classes day after day and logged in literally hundreds of does & fawns. It has been three years since he has posted this much effort and harvested a buck. Now at age 18 he has reacquired his passion for archery coues deer hunting. I can't express how wonderful it is to watch a young man come back to himself after a rough bout with his teenage years. Don't get me wrong..... he has logged in some hours in the past 3 years and passed up some Really Nice bucks..... but for us, he really didn't have his heart in it these past couple of years. So this buck of average size, holds the weight of a true Trophy for me as a Dad. And in the years to come..... when he does finally harvest the "Buck of a Lifetime" it will be more than special..... it will be well earned and Very well deserved. I am proud of you Son and Thank You.

PS:::::: This is buck #6 from the "Honey Hole"!

congrats to you & colton my freind !!!!!!!! why i know colton has passed up many buck's that were much bigger than this paticular one, sometimes the temptation is just to much !!!! colton, like myself, will be hunting coues bucks for the remainder of his life, & at age 18 he will definately harvest alot of 100+ '' buscks.'' GREAT JOB COLTON !!!!!''

THE SWITCHBACK XT DOWNS ANOTHER !!!!!!!

I am posting this to pat my hunting buddy, Jason Scarbrough, on the back. He has been hunting archery Coues Deer with me for 6 years now. He and I and our sons spend countless hours scouting and preparing ourselves for January archery hunting each year. Jason has managed to harvest two nice 90+/- class bucks in the previous couple of seasons, amid countless freezing cold & "deerless" days. This year was not too much different than most years...... it started out REALLY slow for Jason. Days and days of NO DEER.... while we all saw deer he saw none. He suffered many days of what we refer to as the "Scarbrough Curse"......LOL! I finally broke down...... "Jason, it is time to head back to the 'Honey Hole'." I said...... He grinned and his reply...."You know I ain't Scared!" One year ago Jason harvested a monster fork with eyeguards in the now famous 'Honey Hole' (5 coues bucks have come home with us from this spot). His first day back.... Jason is forced to pass up another 90"+ Fork with eyeguards! He passed him up 3 times in 2 days! He passed up several lesser bucks and watched as many as a dozen does & counless fawns pass him each day. I tell him that we should get him out of there and hunt somewhere else, but he insists on "One more day".

We got to our hunting spots late that day.... bad wind. About an hour after I had settled into the silence.....my phone rings......and it is Jason. I don't answer my phone when hunting, but he never calls me unless it is time to get out of the woods or something just died! .... "I just stuck a Monster!" he says..... I hit the ground running!! It took me about 45 minutes to reach him and we started on the blood trail.... 120 yds later.... we stood admiring what six long years of effort and patients pays out. A true trophy... 109"+ green! Over 20" beams and 17 2/8" of spread. This buck should make the top 20 P & Y !

We all here the stories of "beginners luck" and of "dumb luck", and good for those guys! Myself and Jason are not those guys.... we have to to do it, the long and hard way. Last year was my day in the sun and this year is his! I have been waiting for this for 6 years..... to pat my Buddy on the back for a buck of a lifetime! And to many more my Brother!!!

Gino

It was six years coming my freind, and the payout was worth every minute. That is not to count the 45 minutes I had to wait on you & Colton, after I stuck this monster.LOL!!!! I'm so thankfull you drew that antelope tag in 2000, not only do to the fact that is how we met

& have been great freinds every since, but we all, ''you, I, Justin & Colton'' have some awesome hunting memory's to cherish for the rest of our lives. ''AND MANY MORE TO COME!!!''. I beleive that

in these six years we ,have been so fortunate as to take around 11 or 12 bucks between the four of us. Pretty dam good success rate I'd have to say, would'nt you? Any way Gino my freind ,no amount of money in this world could buy me out the good times we've all had archery coues hunting, & the many more yet to come !!! -------------'' MANY THANKS MY BROTHER !!!!!''--------------

As the old saying goes,-------''

'' ANY MAN CAN HUNT,BUT REAL MEN

HUNT WITH A BOW!!!!! ''
