AIMS Testing

We have been AIMS testing this past couple of weeks, our schools get rated according to how our students perform. They are considering attaching teacher pay to test scores. Now due to Common Core that test is going to be changed beginning next year I believe.

 

Part of the testing rules is no electronic devices as a students test may be "invalidated" if it is discovered that they have one, so as a safe procedure we just have students give us all personal devices before we start testing.

 

So here is the test question for the CWT community to see if you are up to date on students, teachers and the economy.

 

This is a multiple choice question, read the information below and then make your selection.

 

There are 22 students in the classroom who come from all sorts of economic backgrounds and upbringing. Some of them come from broken homes, some of them have well to do parents and some of them live in poverty.

 

Of the 22, 14 of them are involved in some sort of extra curricular activity, sports, drama, band.

 

Cell phones are allowed on campus but are to be turned off at all times.

 

Of the school population 45% have had their phones taken away at one point or the other during the school year because they were texting or talking on their cell phone during class time.

 

Of the cell phones pictured below, which phone actually belongs to a teacher?

 

 

 

This is not a timed test, if you cannot finish this test in the given time period you will be given additional time to finish the test but it must be finished by the end of the day.

 

Be very specific with your answer or your attempt at this test will be invalidated

There is no data to support which phone would be a teachers. Only a guess. If the picture was taken with your camera phone, then yours wouldn't be in the box.

 

If all students give up there device before testing, then 14 of the 22 students are taking the test. Based on all students having a phone, and everyone following the rules, and handing over their phones. If all 22 students are taking the test, then the missing 8 phones maybe the ones that got taken away, or they simply don't have one.

 

Maybe the,14 of 22, students phones in the box are the ones involved in extra curricular activity? But extra curricular activity does not mean that those who may not have a phone, are not participating?

This statement does not make sense.There is no given time period.Only that it needs to be completed by the end of the day. Is that the end of the school day, or the end of the day 12:00 midnight?
