ltd2004 Report post Posted April 7, 2014 Hello to all, my dad is retiring after 40+ years in the refridgeration business. He is an avid outdoors enthusiast. Im trying to come up with a good retirement gift, and im looking for advice. Im sure an archery bull elk tag would be #1 on his list, but I cant help him there, and the azgfd isn't helping the cause either. Well any advice would be well appreciated. Thanks for your time

Thanks for your time Buy him a utah auction tag for archery bull elk. You can buy the unit specific ones for less than 5k. Memory of a lifetime if you can afford it. Some of them went for 3500 last year and a 400" bull can be had in any of the auction tag hunts.
Snapshot Report post Posted April 7, 2014 Depends on what you can afford. On the upper end, a bow hunt for plains game in South Africa would be a great adventure. Lots of good deals to be had, though certainly not an inexpensive trip. Maybe a father/Son fishing trip?

Edge Report post Posted April 7, 2014 Agreed, and you can fish together here cheap or fly off to BC or AK for some real fishing.[ Depends on what you can afford. Big Tub Report post Posted April 8, 2014 My son took me fishing on Saguaro with Az Fishing Guides. Spending time with him is the greatest gift you can give. BTW: fishing was slow but right now during the crappie spawn would be awesome esp. if you clean the fish!
cosninocanines Report post Posted April 8, 2014 I retired 12 years ago and my friends put on a party at our favorite watering hole. I can tell you today what each and everyone gave me every time I use the gift. What ever you come up with regardless of price, it will lodge in his memory and he will remember for life. Plaques and watches go in a drawer or top shelf, anything you use stays forever.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted April 8, 2014 White buffalo hunt, grizzly hunt, Mexico islands sheep hunt. Maybe an elephant hunt!! Or if your middle class like most of us, I'd say buy a bunch of his favorite drink, pay for a local hunting or fishing trip (lord knows he's pry paid for a few of yours!) and make it a first class, almost "guided like" experience. If he's anything like my ole man he won't want you spending money on him and will enjoy the experience more than the cost.
