Broken Wheels Report post Posted April 16, 2014 Is this weapon capable of firing both the 5.56 round as well as the .223 as I am being told it will only shoot the .223? Want to make sure before I consider offering a price to you is all... thanks.
wayno945 Report post Posted April 16, 2014 Remington lists it as a 223. The factory answer would be 223 only. I'm sure lots of guys use both. It's a use at your own risk sort of thing.
n2horns Report post Posted April 17, 2014 We all can pitch in and do a CWTtorture test. Load your "safest" round and see what happens. Afterwards BBA time.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted April 17, 2014 I've shot 556 out of mine with no issue, haven't shot any steel cases. I mostly load 223 for it though.
fatfootdoc Report post Posted April 19, 2014 You can shoot 223 out of 5.56 safely, but the pressures generated by 5.56 are not safe in a 223. Meaning you can shoot the 5.56 and you won't have an issue until you have an issue( if you know what I mean). Unless it's stamped 5.56 /223 on the barrel I wouldn't shoot 5.56 out of it.
