gotcoues Report post Posted April 3, 2014 I purchased 4 of the MP6, between freinds and I, we went in on 12 total to get a good deal. So far I not near as happy as I was with the covert assassin cameras. These seem to be way too sensitive and even on a low setting can take unlimited falsies. We have had to cover the sensor almost completely with electrical tape and do superior landscaping to prevent this problem. Night pics are as Shelvin said, not very good. Daytime pics are fine and cameras seem to be very reliable and batts last forever as expected. I would recommend trying something else IMO Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

creed_az_88 Report post Posted April 4, 2014 Simmons whitetail would be my suggestion. Its not packed full of features but it has everything I need. Takes awesome pictures for what it is. Its small as can be and very light. I just picked mine up from leaving it out for three months. Batteries were still good. I have one in my backpack at all times and I never know its there until I come across a good spot to leave it like some hidden water or a fresh lion kill. this is a picture taken with my phone of a picture on my computer screen. I'm too lazy to post the real picture but you get the idea. The picture quality is way better than this. Works for me and handles getting beaten up in my pack all the time. gotcoues Report post Posted April 4, 2014 Maybe I came across as too harsh. I do like covert cams and I own 7 or 8 total. They are reliable and definitely good cams. Even with the remote, I like the assassin better than the MP6 which you mentioned you like that particular cam. With that being said, my only real complaint is the number of false pics even on a low setting is too high. None of my other coverts had this problem. The other people I know with the MP6 ALL have way too many "wind pics". Nothing worse than a back country cam taking enough false pics to fill up your card on a windy month and be worthless the rest of the time until you return for the "gold" and find out the cam let you down. I've left cams out for up to 6 months and my other coverts would perform flawlessly and take my pic when I walk up after all that time in the field. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
TAM Report post Posted April 6, 2014 Hands down the best camera I've found for the money is a Browning Recon Force BTC-2. They're $59.99 on ebay. Less than 1 second trigger, 65 foot flash, great battery life, small, and lots of other whistles and bells. I own 11 of them and plan to buy more! I own 42 trail cameras, including nearly all the above mentioned brands, and I don't think you can get any more bang for your buck than this camera! 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I'm really interested in them but while researching them I came across multiple forum threads on different sites that suggested that their durability was an issue. I also read that although their durability was an issue their customer service was great so that's a plus. I may pull the trigger on one if all 11 of yours are solid cameras and have lasted awhile. TAM Report post Posted April 6, 2014 I've had 3 of the BTC-1's for about a year or so with no problems at all. I bought several of the BTC-2's in December that I used for a month down in Mexico and they turned out to be the best cameras we used this year. Browning has recently released the BTC-5 which is 10 megapixels, 100 foot flash, all in a smaller body but they cost about $130. I have 2 and they're great cameras but just more than I like to pay. I think a lot of places are clearing out the old models for the newer one and that's why you can get the BTC-2's for so cheap! You wont be disappointed!
