What are you doing to get in shape for elk season?

Recommended Posts

1. Eat out less and cook elk instead :)

2. Continue eating more fresh foods and less processed foods.

3. Continue increasing exercise.

4. Limit TV and move instead.

It's been working for a couple years now so I'm staying the course.

Don't have an elk tag this year, BUT I am still trying to stay in shape for the upcoming seasons. Am just about to finish the INSANITY program for the second time. I did it last year pre-season as well and man did it help! Winded what? After that it will be off to the trails with the pup and regular scouting trips. All of this coupled with eating right. This is super important, in my opinion. Trying to eat as much fresh food as I can and as little fast food as I can, unless we are talkin game meat. Those animals are friggin fast, hahahaha.

Hitting the legs and core hard at the gym. Also, loading up my pack with weights and hiking here in the valley. Come Fall there will be no solace for those elk in the canyons!

Switched from beer to whiskey and practicing shooting my bow while sitting in the truck. If I had a bow with a shorter ATA I wouldnt have to open the door. :D

Why do you need to have an elk tag to get in shape, you should stay in shape 12 months out of the year.

5 days a week from 4am to 530 am circuit training the entire body! Once i'm in the hills, my mountain legs show up and away I go.
