This last elk season(2013) we were in 6b west of Sedona. Me, my dad, and brother were hunting on horse back and were riding around trying to find some some elk when five of these little tiny grey things came hopping out in front of us. I thought they were jack rabbits but they were to big, then I thought javalina but they jumped over bushes, then after my brain racked every grey four-legged creature in North America I came to the conclusion they were deer! So we went full speed ahead after them over this little ridge and they disappeared and never seen them again. If you have ever been to the wild life zoo they had these little African deer called dic-dics (yes I know it sounds wierd) that are really small and that's about how big they were. If interest in a location we were just east of robbers roost and just west of mooney canyon. Please reply if any one has encountered something like this. Thanks.

If you get a closer look you would see the only have one horn. They are not coues, but actually are dwarf unicorns.

We saw the same type of tiny deer while hunting in 6b we were hunting just north of Sedona in the transition zone. Pretty sure they were coues and looked to weigh all of 50lbs.

I was hoping when I clicked on the thread it started with a photo.

Hunter, any chance the horses had an effect on how small a few coues does would look?

These things couldn't have weighed more than 50. They had to been yearlings.

Baby antelope?

My buddy has never seen such a sight as a baby antelope running 100 mph away from him. He still talks about it. Mama was not around.

Baby Antelope in 1st pic and Dic-Dic in second pic

I caught a glimpse of something that reminded me of this post when I was out. I went to the edge to look down into a small canyon and this "deer" took off from down below. It looked like either a dwarf antelope or deer, but it definitely ran like a mule deer. Of course, my hand couldn't get to my camera. Heck my eyes barely saw it.

This looked brown to me but it was down below me and it was darker at the bottom. Again, just a glimpse but sure made me think of this post because the height was off and it had shorter legs.

This was in 6a.

Maybe one day someone will get a pic to share.
