Coach Report post Posted March 27, 2014 Putting yourself and three sons and trying to recall just what you put in for, and how it might play out...is a waiting game. I got 2 hits for elk. I put myself and oldest son in for archery bull 1 & 3A/3C. My middle son for early rifle in the same units, because he's smart enough to know he's not there yet with the bow. My youngest son pretty much any cow tag available. I put him in for the Jr. hunts first and probably some general cow hunts after that. Obviously, no kidso hunts based on the price. Looks like we drew 2 elk tags at full price, so at least one is early bull. At the very least we drew one early bull tag and one general cow (that we hoped would be in the youth hunt). At best, we've got two early bull tags. Looks like we'll have an eventful fall. God bless.

cramerhunts Report post Posted March 27, 2014 Right on Coach! Congratulations on the tags, should be some fun times and good memories to add to the ones you and your boys have already made. Good luck to you guys.
1uglydude Report post Posted March 27, 2014 Congrats. I'd put money on it being the two archery tags. You have at least a 1/10 chance of picking one up in those units in any given year. The early bull tag would be less than 1%, plus whatever odds would have been stacked up against him for the cow tag.
Devil Diver Down Report post Posted March 27, 2014 My understanding is that you only pay the junior tag price if you apply for nothing but junior hunts. Once you put in for general hunts, the tag price goes up to full regardless. At least that's the way it used to be, IIRC. Congrats on the tags in any case. At least two in your family are hunting elk, which means you all have a great excuse to be out in the elk woods this year.

Coach Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Yes and no - with a paper application, if you apply for both Jr. and general hunts, you have to include a check to cover the more expensive general tag. If the youth hunt is drawn, you get a refund for the difference. When applying online, They charge you for the actual cost of the drawn tag.
