Pac8541 Report post Posted March 12, 2014 This might be a simple question that I'm making too complicated but do you guys have any recommendation for replacing a cable guard and slide? I've got a Windstalker, circa 2006 when the thing was more of a solution than a problem. I had it installed from the get go on a Bowtech Allegiance so never even tried the OEM unit. I'm now wondering whether or not I can get the same benefits without the weight or complication of set up. From what I understand, unless the Windstalker is installed and set up perfectly it'll eat cables. Switching to something simpler seems like a good decision and will save me some weight and bulk at the same time. I've been looking at the Saunders Z-Rod and Hyperglide. Opinions? Is there anything I need to consider regarding a roller slide vs. non roller on this bow? I'll be replacing my string set soon and it seems like an ideal time to swap this out. Curtis Reed Report post Posted April 4, 2014 Get the Saunders hyper glide. Nice upgrade to a bow for cheap. I put one on my new assassin and love it
Pac8541 Report post Posted April 4, 2014 Bought an Alpine Mach 5 slide and a factory cable guard from Bowtech. This slide on this rod fits "snugly." In fact I have my doubts as to whether or not it will work, or is designed to work, with a Bowtech guard. The factory slide in comparison, is loose. It actually rattles side to side. Two slides, 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. The bow was dropped off with Terrel at AZ Custom Bowstrings this afternoon and I'll have it back Sat morning. I asked him to see which works best; I'm guessing it'll be the factory slide since there's literally no resistance because there's no contact. I've heard these are crappy slides anyway so a Saunders may be in the near future.
