Hyperwrx Report post Posted March 9, 2014 485 bobcats registered 228 No saled bobcats High Bobcat $1325 Only 2 buyers showed and fur prices were not that great. I imagine all those no saled cats are heading up to NAFA as quickly as possible. Not sure on cut-off date for that sale. I sold some fur and took what I could get. Guest wdenike Report post Posted March 10, 2014 Again the folks have become so accustom to being bent over they just take it like a sheep. My opinion is all of us trappers, and callers, should pat each other on the back and throw one down. As in my opinion we all did a good job taking it in the shorts and then some, so that the highest price cat in the state of Arizona could be bought at the briar patch fur sale. We all sure bought a perdy cat. Looking forward to next year! Take care, Willie
DCS Report post Posted March 10, 2014 I sent my hides to Nafta on Friday, started to go to Kingman, but decided against it after going to Globe. The next Nafta sale is in May with the last day to accept being March 24.
FancyRedneck Report post Posted March 10, 2014 DCS , As I heard from someone who went up there it was a good thing that you shipped your furs off. Always a gamble but Briarpatch was worse than the Globe auction as far as averages. Nothing like taking it as Willie put it...
Guest wdenike Report post Posted March 11, 2014 Wow!! I thought this would have turned into a fire storm. I started in this game of hunting, running hounds, and trapping at seven years old. Wow, that's fifty one year ago. Through that time I have gotten real good at reading sign of animals, and evaluating hounds. But also picked up a habit of reading people. Some ya can see through like a fish bowl, and some are actually harder than wild life. There will always be some that think they are slicker than everyone else. But there is an old saying. You can BS some of the people all of the time. You can BS some of the people some of the time. And some of the people you can't BS none of the time. I have always thought trappers fell in the last category, just the nature of the beast. But if you are a trapper and couldn't put the pieces of theater and smoke screen together at this charade. Shame on you and jump into the category ya belong in. Take care, Willie
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted March 11, 2014 How long does the fur last? Could it be saved and sold next year or would it be sub par by then?

Guest wdenike Report post Posted March 11, 2014 How long does the fur last? Could it be saved and sold next year or would it be sub par by then? 33, Yes you can hold it over. But to do it right it is a pain in the hind end. Has to be vacuum sealed. As no matter how perfect you flesh the leather. There will still be traces of oil that will rot and cause the hair to slip. Some have slipped improperly held over hides on buyers that are not in business very long. Take care, Willie

Hyperwrx Report post Posted March 12, 2014 Bob Small, the person who put on the sale posted this on another forum. It's straight from his mouth (fingers). OK! Here's the Real Story, I Called 9 Fur Buyers, two showed up.Our High Bobcat Pelt sold for $1,325. How many Fur Sales beat that in North America?A half dozen Cats sold in the $1,000. Range. Most Cats were flats with Narrow Bellies, same Cats that were Low Bid in other Sales. Our Commission is 1% Trapper, nothing to the Buyer. We had almost 500 Cats, with over 200 Sold before the Auction, 700 Total! We knew this was Coming, just like Globe, Farmington, and Belin but Couldn't Stop It!This Fur Auction is to Help Western Trappers! Why would Trappers not help Kingman?I Begged People to No Sale Cats, if they felt the price was too low.IMO When Fur prices are High, Open Bids are Better, when Fur Prices are Low, Sealed Bids are better. Next year you will have a Choice in Kingman, Sealed or Open? Saturday will be Cats Only, Sunday any other Furs! Kingman is run buy the Trappers, and this will make us work harder! If you have any Positive Questions, I will be Happy to Answer Them! I'm Super Busy, so give me a chance, Thanks! also he added this 485 Cats Offered257 No Sales228 Sold @ about a $240 averageThis is a Late Sale and most buyersstopped buying Cats, Bad Year!Sorry but it cost me to run this Fur Auction again!I'm still going to donate $500. in Cages to theSWFH Youth Program! Thanks for your interest!
