308Nut Report post Posted March 12, 2014 A deadline is a deadline. If you wait till the last minute and the site fails, it should be too bad. Remember when you use to have to mail applications in or drop them off by 7pm. The back door of the truck was shut at 7pm sharp. If you had a flat tire on the way and showed up at 7:00.01 guess what? You didn't get to apply. Better have sucked it up and applied earlier the next year. There is a note on the Alaska department of fish and game website during the application period that specially states (in so many words) that you should apply early because if the site goes down before the deadline due to overload, too bad so sad, better luck next year. The deadline is final no exceptions. Too bad more states aren't like this. The whole purpose AZ split up the draws for elk/antelope in the first place was because many of those hunts are so early. They should keep it early. Hopefully we will know before the NM deadline.

couesmagnet Report post Posted March 12, 2014 I wouldn't be concerned about new mexico, there's nothing there over 300 inches, and besides i'm going to draw new mexico anyways and save everyone from having to put in there(n.m.). Since when are there so many guys putting in for new mexico on this site. How did the word get out about all those 300 inchers? Close to 800 dollars for a 300 incher, something must be going on. What's everyone putting in for over there?
Antmo23 Report post Posted March 12, 2014 If I don't draw an elk tag, I'm going to put in for Colorado for elk and 'lope. I might put in for NM with my Cali hunting buddies, but Im not sure yet...

There couldn't have been that many people that needed to update their CC on Sunday to shut the system down.

Although, we always get frustrated when the results don't come out early and I've never seen them come out past the date the G&F originally says they will be available. Even when these extensions happen we see them earlier than the regs say we will.
cohofishing Report post Posted March 12, 2014 Just got home from another trip. Sitting here reading some of these posts. I find it interesting, that the people pooh, poohing a few of us that tried to update our payment info during the last 24 hours that it was opened to do so, are sitting waiting to apply to New Mexico til they know if they drew in Arizona. Doesn't that make you all procrastinators? I understand why your doing it. I am doing it myself. But dang, if the shoe fits.... I had my appts in long before the deadline. I got my new chase card a couple weeks ago. I didn't ask for it. I didn't even realize my wife had used it at target. Changed my info but forgot to change my daughter's. A deadline is a deadline. End of story. Sure hope we don't all crash New Mexico's site Brent

End of story. Sure hope we don't all crash New Mexico's site Brent Here's hoping that if your daughter is drawn that you'll be able to solve the issue when the Department makes its phone calls to rejected card holders. Keep the cell phone on and stay where you have service. That being said, if they don't officially extend the updating period and give everyone an opportunity to make the changes, they're going to have a lot of complaints. And, the longer they wait to run the draw after closing the payment service, the more likely they are to get people with newly-expired and replaced cards. coues187 Report post Posted March 12, 2014 It just seems G and F makes it harder than it needs to be. Who knows, they may have a huge profit margin from the way they do it now.
