'Ike' Report post Posted March 6, 2014 While behind the 15's or Scope...? Looking for something packable, lite-weight and won't cramp the 'boys' like the lil Tri-stool thing....Also with back support!
naturegirl Report post Posted March 6, 2014 My butt I use a pad that hooks to pack. It's a permanent part of my pack that goes everywhere with me. I used to use one with a back rest, but I can find a back rest most places I sit to glass. The single pad is super light and works best for me. My husband tried stealing mine he liked it so much. I got mine at Sportmans Warehouse. Also if I know I'm going to be glassing all day I will bring this small portable bleacher chair that has a back on it. PRDATR Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I have a foam pad I got at Dicks that sports fans use for sitting on in stadiums. It was maybe $5 and in the past I have used foam pads I got in the Garden Supply Dept at Walmart. I have also used a small fold up stool made of metal and canvas I bought 20 years ago at an Army/Navy Surplus shop here locally but they went out of business a few years ago. I have not found anything small enough to tote around that also gives back support. I do 95% of my glassing sitting down in the shade.
Norteno Report post Posted March 6, 2014 X2 on the crapper. Lol I pack the $5 Tri-stool thing right now but admit it is not very comfy but it gives me the height I need for my Tri pod, head, bino adapter. I used to use the "butt pad" that nature girl does and it was nice because it was always in position. The strap goes around your waste and you can sit down without taking your pack off. This works nice since my hunting pants make my butt look big

rcdinaz Report post Posted March 6, 2014 In my pack right now: Walking stool Outdoorsman small pad for the ground Thermarest inflatable seat I carry two pads in case I want to "rest my eyes". If I will be out for a really long hike or an overnighter I would only carry the outdoorsman pad to save weight. The Walking stool is awesome for glassing, they carry them at Outdoorsman. It is a little tripod stool that with telescopic legs. It folds down very small and is very sturdy. My kids carry a similar stool from REI but the legs are fixed. PatrickJr Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I personally use on of those stools you buy at sportsmans for 10 bucks and it has 4 legs, but it takes up space. if you are serious, go to Outdoorsmans and check out their line of stools and they are expensive, but my dad has one, and it collapses into nothing, it very lightweight, and is comfortable. just don't get the 2 tall sizes because you will fell like you are sitting on a barstool while glassing. Antmo23 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I tried the route of those little tripod stools, but finding a flat spot in the mountains isn't easy. I usually just find a good rock to post up on. Might go the foam pad route this year.

MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I use one of those little pads you get at home depot for kneeling when tending gardens. High density foam and very nice seat on any terrain. No stool for me.
GJMauro12 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I'll either use a stool or my butt if I don't feel like carrying the stool. I'll carry a garbage bag if the ground is wet or frozen.
