az4life Report post Posted July 20, 2004 I wonder how many of those "Additional" tags are going to USO hunters? Taulman and Montoya's complaints and junk suit has benefited a lot of hunters Only at first glance. I think the #s being pushed around are somewhat deceiving. Lets review: The 805 extra tags while affecting 42 elk hunt units and 9 deer hunt units average out to about an extra 16 hunters per hunt unit. Doesn't sound so bad, but These are only Averages! My guess is that the greatest impact will be to a small # of hunt units that will be hit HARD with the Extra hunters. Sure the average may come out to 16 but I bet quite a few of those units are only impacted with 1 or 2 extra hunters. Averages tell you that if several units are impacted with low #s, then other units (prime units) are much harder hit. So anyone who FAIRLY drew a tag in one of the affected units will have much more hunt pressure to deal with. It is unfortunate that a real trophy unit may have been fairly drawn by someone and now they have all the extra pressure and competition to deal with. Best solution in a bad situation? Maybe, or maybe not! I definitely want to see the specific unit impact if possible.
Guest Buster Report post Posted July 20, 2004 Good post az4life, I bet the 13a, 13b and both Kaibab late hunts are loaded with non-res applications. These are by far the most legendary trophy muley hunts in AZ. 12b is now weak since the Paunsaugunt is down, and everybody knows it. Also, 9 & 10 for elk plus a rut hunt in any elk unit should have lots of non-res apps. However, some elk units such as 1 have an overabundance of bulls and really need more harvested. Seems plenty of big ol bulls are dying from fights with each other. Better hanging on a hunter's meat pole than wasted. Hey JSR, Wanna whack a wooly white mtn. goat? Good for you! The day is coming partner (it's closer now), when guys like you and me have the same chance at getting a tag as any resident does. Just sit tight, my friend. Heeeeeeeey Lark, C'mon up to BIIIIIIG Wonderful Wyoming! I'll take you around and show you some REEEAL country just as mean and nasty and wild as you!!! Ever seen a Grizzly bear in the hills? Ever tip over a big ol Shiras moose? How about sagebrush prairies just full of antelope as far as your eye can see (and you can draw a tag too!)? Trapping is allowed, too. Unbelievable fishing as well. Holy cow Lark, I can't believe you are still living down there with the cactus, thorns, rocky country, lions, wackos, an a world-class lame G & F Dept. You will never go back to greenieville AZ after visiting western Wyoming. It just gets in your blood, partner. Buster PS - Heeeeeey Mom, I'll be headed home after I draw my AZ elk tag and Strip muley tag tomorrow.

Guest Buster Report post Posted July 20, 2004 There is a post on AZOD with the actual numbers of additional tags for each hunt. Evidently, AZGFD will post these??? See the post for complete info. Just as I suspected. The primo units are pretty well impacted. These are the deer units that may have roughly 30% nonres. 13A has a quota of 40 but will have an additional 13. 13B 55+17 12AE late 50+12 12AW late 125+30 Elk units 9 late elk 255+27 10 late elk 350+105 (up to 31% nonres!) 10 early 50+11 (up to 26% nonres!) 3A/3C early 20+2 Buster

KGAINES Report post Posted July 20, 2004 I was born in Arizona, and I don't know about most of you, but I feel I should have an advantage over someone that doesn't live here. I didn't mind the non-residents getting the share that was allotted to them for the bull elk and mule deer north of the colorado river, but you get a few people that are never happy and they ruin it for everybody except them. I see a few non-residents that are posting on here that they agree with us also and I think that is because it has already happened to their state or it will as soon as it is settled in AZ. Can you imagine if there was not a non-resident fee to hunt in any state, what would you have a United States hunting and fishing license, wow I could kill 10+ deer in half the states back east, but so could everybody else, I could buy tags in alaska for residents prices and so could everybody else, who would mandate how many animals get killed every year, and who would manage and patrol these hunt units across the country, I am thinking that the states wouldn't want to if they are losing license fees and tag fees, plus why would states set up seperate funds ( heritage fund ) to maintain wildlife if they are getting nothing in return. I can think of nothing good that could come from this judgement, of course there are individuals out there that don't care about rights of others, they just pay high priced lawyers to change them, so that they benefit that individual and the few like him. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted July 20, 2004 Lark, I don't have the emails, but you can write to them care of AGFD main office. You can just address it to each commissioner's name c/o AGFD. Main Office - Phoenix 2221 W. Greenway Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85023-4399 602-942-3000 To get each commissioner's name, you can see it on this link on the AGFD page: Commission Members bios What the AGFD ended up doing was going ahead with the draw as if there was no court order and then allocated more elk and deer tags that would be above the normal amount. Those newly allocated tags are for non-residents. Here is a link to the latest info on the AGFD regarding that decision: New tags allocated by AGFD Also, there is a list of names of people who will receive additional tags, but I am unclear if they are all non-residents or what. Draw results for additional permits I am not sure they will release the info you are requesting Lark, but you can ask. Amanda
wetmule Report post Posted July 20, 2004 Hi there Big Boy Buthster (AKA Michael Moore) you thsound like a reeel thsweet kinda guy, I thsuure wood like to bump into you up in the thstrip if you know what I mean! Wyoming huh! where men are supposedly men and sheep are nervous, I'll bet there are alot of nervous sheep in your neighborhood. What the heck are you doing applying for our hunts down here when you've got B & C bucks, bulls & bighorns running all over the hills and behind every bush up there, as you claim to have? Do you hunt with one of tthose Llamas up there ? I bet you do. If you do, I sure wouldn't want to be your Llama. Do us all a favor and stay away from our miserable cactus infested, snake crawlin, westnile virus infested ugly state. We've got enough snakes here that are much more appealing than you, and we don't need any more. Out
galiuro mountain man Report post Posted July 20, 2004 If I read this right, elk will be posted tomorrow? Everyone I talked to about elk and muley tags said they didnt get drawn. Im just hoping this is the way they are doing it, I still have a chance for elk. I did get a unit 32 white tail rifle (pistol) tag, but I have a feeling I wont get to use it. Hopefully I get my deer with a bow, because my wifes due date is right in the middle of the hunt. Good luck on the draw!!! GMM
