CouesKilla Report post Posted March 3, 2014 I am thinking of taking a trip back home and visiting either Roosevelt or San Carlos. Anyone having luck out there yet? What is the state of San Carlos? I heard it was shut down last year for a bit.
CouesPursuit Report post Posted March 3, 2014 San Carlos is likely needing some time to recover as it was near empty last year. It does have water now. Roosevelt has had decent catch rates and will only get better as the water warms. Many are blaming below average catch rates on a gizzard shad invasion but I do know some folks who are still having great fishing days. I spend a lot of time at Roosevelt in the spring-summer, crappie fishing 95% of the time or more, but here is the last time I targeted largemouth at Roosevelt last June 2013. Bass.bmp My opinion is the gizzard shad haven't hurt the population of larger bass but the crappie fishing has been generally tough. Still having some great trips out, but they are becoming less consistent. Good Luck!

Getting Dad to catch a fish any more is a big deal and he landed a 5lb catfish which I thought was a 10lb bass. We boated 3 other bass around 2lb and a single bluegill. I lost a hog at the boat that had to have gone 5lbs and 2 others. Dad was beat by noon so we headed home. I'm not sure which was more fun, watching dad bring in that catfish or him cussing out every bass boat that buzzed by us at 20yrds with no respect. Every day out with dad is a blessing from above. It's not going to be to long before I'll miss my fishing partner and I'm racking up as many memories as I can. The pictures aren't the best. Dad and his 5lb catfish Enough for a fish fry An eagle that was watching over us. TJ
