PatrickJr Report post Posted March 2, 2014 is that normal have a bobcat sell for more than a mountain lion??? and comparing to the globe fur sale bobcat average, looks like these furs must have been dipped in gold!
Hyperwrx Report post Posted March 2, 2014 The Fallon Sale is a limited entry sale. Not everyone get in. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. For bobcats, it is usually the best quality and they often get the best prices. This does put a ray of hope for The Kingman sale. Don't expect last year's prices but we'll hope to see a visible difference from the ATA's average bobcat price. There is no market in the garment indsutry for a lion pelt. They must be used elsewhere.

PRDATR Report post Posted March 2, 2014 Thanks for posting this. As a non-trapper I had to look up what a castor is. Can you explain why it isn't referred to as beaver?
standman Report post Posted March 2, 2014 Well I sold what fur I put up after the ata sale plus the two cats I pulled from the sale this morning to a buyer that came through town. For what I had I wasn't going to go to Kingman. I doubled what was offered for my two cats at the ata sale, so I was happy that I pulled them and sold later. It was a chance to take but paid off for me at least. Brian
Hyperwrx Report post Posted March 2, 2014 The whole fur market this year is all about taking chances, which is too bad. Many people put in too much time and effort trapping to play a guessing game at the end for the payout. It angers me but I realize the fur market is a risk from year to year and it requires the time/money/effort to be put out up front and the reward at the very end. I trapped just about all season and had a good number of pelts to show for it but not near the money I anticipated. It is what it is. Nothing is a sure bet.
