couesdiehard Report post Posted December 8, 2006 This isn't about coues deer but I had mentioned on this site more than once that my wife drew a late east Kaibab mulie tag. Well we just returned last weekend from her successful hunt. On the 8th morning she shot the largest buck we had seen with one shot from my 30-06 at 340 yards. I am one proud husband. I hope to get a few minutes to write up the story this weekend. Here's a picture of the 160 class 4X4 in the meantime. Oops, Needed to re-size the photo. Hope this works better. flagcoueskiller Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Awesome! Congratulations, sounds like your wife is one helluva shot. That's a great buck, make sure she realizes the coues variety is a little bit smaller target, that is a toad!! Joe
couesdiehard Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Joe, She has already pointed out that when her deer gets back from the taxidermist she wants placed on the wall right between my two "little coues deer"! I have the Dec 34A WT tag and even if I killed a record coues buck I could never convince her that mine is better. Doesn't matter though I am more proud of her than and her buck than any that I ever shot or ever will! Lee

flagcoueskiller Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Too funny, my wife says the same thing. I got a 80" in 34A in the October hunt. Good luck to you. I am going to Mexico day after Xmas for the first time. My wife can't understand why I would pay so much money to try to hunt the same deer I have harvested in AZ 3 years straight for next to nothing. I don't understand why we need to remodel a perfectly good kitchen. Lots of luck to you on your hunt, it's gotten very tough in 34A
couesdiehard Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Joe, After trying to drag that 250 lb. mulie 300 yards I couldn't stop thinking about how much I love those little coues deer. When spent hour after hour skinning, quartering and butchering that mulie I thought how much I love those little coues deer. When I put the 110 lbs. of boned-out mulie venison in the freezer I thought dang I wish those little coues deer were this big! Lee

COOSEFAN Report post Posted December 9, 2006 A big congrats to your wife! Beautiful buck! Not to take away from the rack...but...WOW, look at the size of them ears! You didn't by chance measure the tip-tip ear spread did ya? On the West side we had one that was 23 1/2" and another at 25" and looked to be about the same age class. Just curious, congrats again, JIM>
couesdiehard Report post Posted December 10, 2006 COOSEFAN, Did not think to measure ear spread but the outside spread of his antlers is only 21 4/8" so he is very narrow and tall which makes those huge ears look even bigger. Thanks to all for the congrats. Lee
