This information was just released on PHF. I re-posted it here for everyone. It's on his site's front page if you want to read it yourself.

Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale
News Release 2/17/2014

With the Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale less than three weeks away, we felt it important to give Bobcat Trappers an update on the details of the upcoming sale. Keeping in mind the results of the recent Fur Sales, we are wanting to clarify and inform the public to some continuing practices and new policies for the upcoming sale so that it is successful for both the sellers and the buyers.

1. At the Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale, buyers are not interested in purchasing bobcat pelts that are short in length (less than 32"), poorly handled, sow-bellied females, or flat fur bobcats. We want only quality pelts brought through the door. Buyers travel from all across the country to purchase fur in Kingman, Arizona and we want them to feel their time is well spent. Last year we had many sub-par bobcats put on the tables. This year we will raise the average quality of our bobcats.

2. Our goal is to get the sellers and buyers in and out of our sale as quickly as possible. To do this we are asking sellers to be considerate of people's time and not put single bobcat pelts in their own lots unless the bobcat is of a different quality compared to the other pelts on your ticket. An example would be if you have 3 pelts that are all similar in size and fur quality being placed in the same lot rather than making three separate lots. Buyers are more interested in bidding on five or more Bobcat Pelts in one lot at once than one in a single lot. Do not feel you have to spread your pelts out and take up all five lots you are allotted. Please help us with this or we will step in and request it of you. We are doing this so the sale moves at a quick pace. This, in turn, will help fur prices stay on the edge we all want.

3. We will be registering fur starting Friday, March 7th at 9 AM. We will stay in the building accepting fur until midnight Friday, if we need be. We will continue again the following day, Saturday at 7 AM and stop accepting fur at 10 AM. We do this so that it gives the fur buyers enough time to grade the fur so we can start promptly at 12 noon on Saturday. Be advised- We will turn your Bobcat Pelts away if they come in the door later than 10 AM Saturday, March 8th. No exceptions. The Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale does not make a profit from this sale so accepting all fur, regardless of when it arrives, is not something we will do.

4. We added a 1% commission on all fur sold in response to Arizona Trappers asking that the Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale contribute monetarily to Arizona Trappers. Most of the 1% collected this year will go directly to the Southwest Fur Harvesters Youth Program. Youth are the future of trapping and we feel at this point that this is where most the funds are best spent. The rest of the Commission collected will go to preserve trapping in the Western States. We will always be very transparent in where these funds are go each year.

5. Sellers will walk out the door at the end of the sale with a check(s) in their hands. The 1% commission will be deducted at the time the check(s) is written.

6. As of today we have 5 fur buyers that have committed to attending the sale. If you are a fur buyer and want to purchase fur at this sale please contact Dennis Kubesh at 231-228-6667.

7. As is the policy at fur sales across the United States, once your fur has been registered at the sale, it will remain on the tables until your lot number is auctioned off. You always have the right to choose to No Sale your fur with us and there is never a no sale fee at the Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale. If you want to sell your fur to a buyer before or after the sale in the parking lot, that is your business. If you have fur from other species you want to sell, feel free to strike a bargain in the parking lot with a buyer. We only request that quality bobcat pelts are sold inside the building at the Briarpatch Bobcat Fur Sale.

8. To enter the sale building you need to pay a $20 entrance fee (to cover the cost of the building and insurance) and have at least 1 pelt to sell. This is not a sale geared toward spectators.

On a final note, we are trying to do everything possible to make this sale a success for everyone who attends. We put on this sale for the sole purpose of getting the trapper the most money possible for his/her fur. We now add to that, our mission to help youth trapping in Arizona, and trapping in Western States. We wish everyone good luck selling your fur wherever you choose to sell it this year and hope everyone feels satisfied with the season's outcome. Thanks for your Support!

-Bob Small

while we are on this topic. Is there anyone out there that wants to buy bobcat pelts. I have 5 that are tube skinned and frozen. Never stretched. What are they worth? Any interest in them?

I am in Queen Creek. I will look at them and possibly purchase them. Were they shot or trapped? Elevation and month harvested? When were they put in the freezer?

Please, Blake can you knock it off??? You have a lot going for you and a ton to offer, just tone it down and let your successes speak for themselves.

I erased the post but as for messing with the bobcat god hyper sorry I won't stop. Thanks

I'm slightly confused though how when I state a law straight from the AZGFD about buying fur I'm suddenly the bad guy?

Not referring to anyone, just a general comment. If you feel compelled to refer to or quote rule and/or statute it is always a good idea to ensure you at least understand those rules and statutes first.

JUST in case youre talking to me ;) I understand that rule quite well according to the ARS:

"Fur dealer" means any person engaged in the business of buying for resale the raw pelts or furs of wild mammals.
