Best all around tripod for the $?

Looking to upgrade from my current setup. Looking for a good all around tripod kit (head included) that I will be able to glass from standing (I'm 6'1") and sitting comfortably. Weight isn't a huge issue but I will be packing it every so often. Want super solid legs super smooth head, high enough for me, compact enough to pack and a reasonable weight and price. I'm upgrading from an old manfrotto setup with cheap legs and head to give an idea. Thanks for the input.

I use the slik carbon fiber with a Jim white panhead also with a dual mount for my 15's and spotting scope I'm 6'6 don't usually stand up when I glass but if I have to its tall enough but does get a little shakey when it's completely stretched out in the wind. Hope that helps ya

I have the manfrotto carbon fiber I'm 6'5" and it works great light and sturdy I think it was $320 for the tall model

Did it come with a head also? Looking to stay under $300 for the setup

How much weight will you be stacking on your leg/head combo?

My swarovski 15's, maybe some weight on the post hook if it has one when its windy.

You are asking a lot for less than $300. The height you want = heavy, even if you spend $$$. Super smooth pan heads are $200 & up.

 

Which Manfrotto tripod & head combo do you currently have?

Look here on the site in the store. Several of us have the Promaster tripod that Amanda sells. They are best for the money you will find. But it doesn't come with a head. And they do get expensive for the better ones. I have the Jim White pan head on mine and love the setup.
