Ram Find: What would you do with it?

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough to find this large ram skull while working with the BLM a few years back. It is in rough shape from the sun, any recommendations on anything others have done in the past to keep it intact? post-3844-0-63086400-1392073256_thumb.jpg

It is currently inside on display in the living room, so sun and heat are no longer a problem. Current plan is to leave it as is. I hesitate to do anything to this trophy animal, but I would at least like any opinions if others had luck with something for preservation that wouldn't be invasive to the character of this ram.

Appreciate any advice - thanks in advance.

talk to a taxadermist there are some oils you can apply to re moisten the horn and a little hidrogin proxide for the scull , but it does look great the way it is. goodluck

Great find! I have one in very similar condition. I just stuck mine on a high wall shelf. It looks down on the living room.

don't think there is much you can do to it, too weathered, just keep it inside and make up a lie about the 100 walk and crawling to a water hole with your last strength and finding it beside a rattlesnake you killed with a stick then ate

Go to the Catalina's, shoot a lion, use the ram skull as part of the habitat in a very realistic full body mount!
all the cats have died, I hear "they" are reintroducing lions next year.

A natural oil application of some sort is the kind of info/possibility I was looking for in case I need it down the road. Thanks, wildwoody.

I think it looks awesome just like that! Great find! I suppose if you wanted to you could make a pedestal with some habitat features. That would look cool too. Thanks for posting.

Unless it continues to flake badly after being indoors, chances are he sits as is, eventually on a habitat mount. Thanks, Jimmer and all with the leave as-is recommendation.
