WildHeritageTaxidermy Report post Posted February 9, 2014 After hunting hard in the southern part of 23 all weekend, and putting in a long hard stalk on some really skittish Javelina that didn't work out. Hunter and Cassidy got a double on Javelina, just 20 minutes from home. We had a friend stop by the shop and said they would take us to where they had seen some pigs the eve before. I couldn't go with as I was in the middle of mounting a bear, so Heather loaded up the kiddos and off they went. About 15 min before they got to the planned area some other javelina were spotted and the hunt was on! Hunter had been told to let his 10 yr old sister have the first shot since this was her first hunt, and even thought he had a nice boar in his sights he waited till he heard his sister shoot.....unfortunately she missed! He did not know she missed and he still had his chosen javelina in shooting range so he took the shot, his pig went down and his little sister said "Hunter got one!!!" with tears running down her face because she thought it was all over and she had messed up her chance. Heather told her they had to go check and make sure that she had missed the one she had shot at, then they would go check out Hunters javelina and congratulate her brother. While they were looking at Hunters pig the whole heard circled around and started filing by them at about 60 yrds, mom was able to get Cassidy back on a big sow and this time Cassie wasn't messing around, with perfect shot placement she got her first kill ever. Both kids first pigs and Cassidy's first big game animal!!! Congrats kids great job!!!!! Thanks to everyone that helped out on this hunt, with running a taxidermy shop it is hard to find time to get out and scout/hunt like we would like to! Hunter used a Savage 22-250 and Cassidy a youth model Savage 243 Cassie sighting her rifle in after she dropped it and banged the scope A shed Heather found in the southern part of 23 And two successful and happy kids!!!!

Coach Report post Posted February 9, 2014 Nice job! Something about seeing the family effort around getting those kids their first Javi's - I just can't get enough of. To you parents putting in the work, and getting kids involved, my hat is off to you. Huge congrats to Cassidy and Hunter, and to Heather for keeping her head in the game and helping Cassidy seal the deal. Awesome all the way around.
