Correct, the English females tend to be smaller but truthfully unless your a profesional breeder the 2 have been mixed (which is not a bad thing at all) and for the most part labs are labs. Sam Report post Posted February 7, 2014 Great looking dogs. The parents look more like American/Field Labs. American/Field labs tend to have a narrower head/snout and a slender build. Where as English labs are stockier and have a blocky head. I have a yellow American and she is a great dog. For the first few years very hyper, but she is now 4 and has calmed down. We are about to get a black female pup from a friend - both parents are Americans. Thia is a good price for good dogs.
