capoeirajosh Report post Posted January 31, 2014 Anybody been seeing any bears lately? I read somewhere that because of this warm weather some have been coming out of hibernation. Just curious. Can't wait for bear season!

out2hunt Report post Posted February 1, 2014 After checking my buddies bear this year, the Game and Fish Biologist said arizona bears don't hibernate like those bears further north of the equater. Ours "den up" and move very little but do continue to move year round. Thought I would share

capoeirajosh Report post Posted February 1, 2014 Baiting is actually illegal now in AZ. Using dogs is affective. I think most people glass though. Glass ya butt off!!

Glass ya butt off!! My son and I located that bear sitting water on his jr elk hunt. After he killed his cow we went back and took pictures of him a day later. Figuring he had water and feed (acorns from a fresh stand of oaks) so he wouldn't be leaving any time soon. A few days later my 73 year old friend shot him in the exact canyon I told him to hunt. I wish I could say I had enough experience to educate further, but we were lucky. Calling is an effective measure as well. Many Blessings on your future Bear hunts!
