1976 CJ7

Recommended Posts

Considering selling my '76 CJ7. I have owned it since 1978. It's been pretty much parked for the last 18 years since I have gone to using either quads or side x sides. I have put maybe 5000 miles on it in that time frame. It is cosmetically a mess from sitting so long in the sun. Seats are cracked and need seat covers. Doors panels need to be pulled off and linkages lubricated. It has minor electrical problems......dimmer switch needs to be replaced, one tailight doesn't work and fuel gauge is erratic. It may work today but not tomorrow. Paint is faded. It has leaked out a pint of transmission fluid in the last 3 years between the transfer case and tranny mating surfaces. Quadra Trac vacuum lines probably need to be replaced. Tires are starting to sun crack. I live in a rural area outside of emissions testing so it has never been emission tested.

In the last 21K miles everything with the exception of the rear differential has been gone through including the engine and tranny. Transfer case was opened up and needed nothing so it was put back when the engine and transmission were out. All body bushings with the exception of one were replaced along with leaf springs. It may need shocks. Hoses and belts were replaced about 5 years ago but time is probably starting to get to them. It had a major brake job 15K miles ago.

Specs are full time 4 wheel drive, hard top, 304 V8 engine, automatic transmission with Quadra Trac. Biggest thing wrong with it is sitting in the sun and not being driven.

Asking $4500.
