Scooter Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Availability depends on how much you are willing to pay... If you need it NOW, expect to pay a private seller upwards of .25/rd but if you have some time- get in line at the local Wal Mart every morning and hope and pray there's some left by the time you get to the counter. Stores do get them in, but ammo hoarders and price gougers are gobbling them all up instantly to either store them for the apocalypse or the gougers will be the ones selling it for .25/rd as I mentioned earlier. My advice: Take up Archery or black powder guns.

IA Born Report post Posted January 27, 2014 I have a brick of steel cased Russian .22LR I'd be wiling to part with. Bought it for my daughter's single shot, but it won't feed it properly. Haven't tried it in other rifles. Only 5 rounds missing. PM me if you are interested. Two soccer tournaments in Phoenix in February so I'll be down there a couple of times and can bring it. rossislider Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Not sure where you are located but if you are willing to come to me in Tempe or Queen Creek I could probably part with 100 rounds. It is not a lot but it would get you shooting. With tax I paid about $3.00 per box of 50 Remignton Thunderbolt rounds. I'll let you buy a couple of boxes at that price.
wendt Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Thanks for the offer rossislider but I live in Surprise. I will keep looking. From what I have heard the boxes don't even make it to the shelves they get bought up right away.
rossislider Report post Posted January 28, 2014 That seems to be the case. Good luck. Keep at it and you will eventually find some.

CJNAZ Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I can't understand why 22LR is still MIA. I can buy 223, 40, 38, 357, 7.62 all day long now. 50 round boxes and bulk 1000 round containers. But 22 LR is rarely available at any store. What gives?
rossislider Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I asked a Remington rep one time. The short answer, the mark up and profit in 22lr ammo is very small. So when ammo is on short supply manufactures will put their resources into the higher mark up/higher profit stuff.
