willhunt4coues Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Well I finally got to shoot my first critter with my new Savage 10 6.5 Creedmoor. If it was not for my son I probably could have not shot him. If the dog would have stood there longer my boy could have smoked him. We have been on a quest to get him his first fox, bobcat, or coyote and this one surprised us and ran out in front of the Jeep. Had to grab the gun and get off the road I then lost the dog and we waited for him to run up the other hillside just then my boy says dad he right there so I swung over quick and got a round into him just as he started to walk away. The Berger 140 VLD bullet did a number on this dog hence the frontal picture.

willhunt4coues Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Ya .225 group at 100 yards and .748 group at 300 yards. Berger VLD 140 with hornady brass. H4350 42.4 grains, CCI-BR2 primers. Seated at 2.195 was what worked for me. I take the time to ream the primer pocket and debur the flash hole and then separate all my brass by lot and weight. Bullets are separated by base to ogive and weight. If you take the time to do all this you will have a very low extreme spread and standard deviation. I am getting 2760 fps. willhunt4coues Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Good job Clay and great you're getting the young'n out with ya. TJ Ya he has been tagging along everytime I go out now. If he does not go with me he gets all mad at me for not taking him... The quest continues for his first dog, fox, or bobcat. Heck I haven't even shot a cat yet...oh well the things we do for our kids..
