Anybody know a good place to sell fur

Recommended Posts

Just getting into varmint calling and starting to have a little luck, I was wondering what prices are for. Coyote, Fox and Bobcats. And a good place to sell.

This is a pic of triple I got calling earlier this year.

There is usually a fur sale every year at the fair grounds in globe. I think its in February, I've never been so I don't know much about it. I do know from looking at the sale lists from previous years that bob cats can be high dollar critters.

If I remember correctly coyotes were 25-35, fox were 30-40, and bob cats were all over the place but as high as 700-800.

From the Phoenix Varmint callers, Inc Web site:

FUR SALE: Mike Huffer, the fur manager for the auction says "The sale is Feb.15th at Gila County Fairgrounds, the same place we have had it for the last twenty years. Check in is from Friday Feb 14th at noon to Sat. 10:00 AM. Still having a live auction and we plan on starting the auction at 2 PM. The auction is starting little later this year, with the numbers for furs, some buyers wanted more time to look at the bobcats."

"I have been trying to get one buyer to come to the auction in the past. He would not because we would need a 1000 bobcats there to make it worth his time. We were short by a 120 last year."

If anybody is interested in going to the auction, contact Mike with furs you would be bringing. His phone number is 480-970-5904 or email MJwildile1@yahoo.com

I just read the latest fur report. The first major fur auction in the country was just held. Fur prices are expected to fall somewhat lower than last year and continue to fall.

The briar patch fur sale is in Kingman March 8th. Cats only sale but guys were selling coyote and fox too directly to the buyers. Had the highest prices on cats last year and more time to put the fur up, lowest (none) last year.

I talked to a buyer from last year in Globe and he said after the High prices last year with cats going for 1300 or more that this year they will top out around 700 for the very best. I have a feeling a lot of guys are thinking they are gonna get a lot more for their cats this year and will be very upset when they don't get the prices they got last year.

+1.

Your high of 700 is higher than I have been told. I heard 500 was going to be tops. Which is still really good. Just not the ballooned prices of the past couple years.

I guess I should have said 700 is what they maxed out at in a Nevada sale. So sadly you are probably right. It's gonna be interesting to see how many guys no sale their cats thinking they are getting ripped off. There were some guys no Saling cats that were bid up to 700 or 800 dollars thinking they deserved 1000+ last year so when those same cats are getting 400 this year they are gonna freak.
