>>OK banditos in this country sure< but probably less in there country as ours. (well I wonder why).<<

AZ Guide,

I'm sure you were trying to make a point in the above. I just have no idea what it was. :( Care to try again? -TONY

My point is that the reason we have more banditos over here is they have all come across the border as criminals. Infact they are brought to our border and told they cross or go to jail. Like i have said in the past that the borders are the bad issues. If the deep mexico was a bad issue than our people from the USA would not flood mexico for every vacation they can right. But we can not say that mexico is not a hard place and that things go on down there to us people that would not hapen if we were not there. I am glad that you have had good trips down there and i hope you continue to have them. The fact is for me i will stay in my country and hunt here for i do not trust the border issues.

I hope that my try again was a bit clearer.

Hmmm, that's a pretty loose comment to offer with no way to prove it as fact, especially in light of many of the illegals are women and kids.

There were scads of criminals preying on innocent people here LONG before the illegal immigrant problem cropped up. And even more recently, crimes by other races other than Mexicans has been rampant. Back to my original cite, neither of the two PHX serial shooters was an illegal immigrant nor was either even Mexican. In LA, Detriot, Chicago and NYC, the crime problems are far from being limited to the Mexicans -- legal or illegal. -TONY

No matter how this is argued there is always going to be two sides, we can't justify the problem by saying that it happens here too. I have a lot of friends that migrated here from Mexico or their parents did and no I didn't ask if it was legally, but they are legal now, that don't make it ok to sneak over now, I can see why they want to and I would probably do the same if I were in the same position, but it is still against the law. I still think if drug dealers were shot on site ( yes all of them), that would be a problem that would stop quickly. I am almost positive that none of the nineteen hijackers crossed from Mexico into the U.S., and I do think that they crossed from Canada, so the terrorist claim from the southern border is not a bigger threat than our northern border or just straight off of a jet right at one of our airports with false documents. This is a problem that none of us have the full answer for. Our southern deserts our trashed, that is a fact, there were some kidnappings south of the border, another fact, and our border patrol gets shot at on a regular basis, I am sure that can be confirmed also. Just like a few people have already said, if you want to go to Mexico for any reason go and have fun, the good outweighs the bad, but if you are afraid to go or don't feel safe hunt AZ and be happy. Good Luck to all and God Bless

KG,

I find little to disagree with in your comments. I don't support the illegals either, but then that has nothing to do with the main gist of this thread -- visiting Mexico and worrying about being kidnapped or worse, does it?

I have no doubts that drug dealers shoot at BP agents, etc. But then drug dealers who aren't illegals also shoot at the regular cops all over this country. That's what criminals do. But only a small portion of the illegals crossing the border are drug dealers and most of the illegals -- nearly half -- arrested and put in jail here were charged with entering the country illegally and nothing more. Stands to reason that an illegal alien entered illegally. :)

Crime here is a MAJOR problem, regardless of the illegal immigration. And in some parts of Mexico, such as Mexico City, it is also a MAJOR problem. Same around the Laredo area. It's the nature of the beast in big cities no matter where one lives. My only point here was that it no less safe for Americans in Mexico than it is here in the U.S.

Shake and bake it anyway you wish. :) -TONY

Did you guys just catch that report on CNN... I guess some vigilante... harrassed a bunch of hispanic mule deer hunters... the sad part is that it was a dad with his daughters and the girls said they would never hunt again because the guy pulled an assault weapon on them...

KG,

That's funny. Those folks take their politics serious. :D

When my fishing partner and I drove down last March to Lake El Salto, the farmers were waging a protest of sorts and had taken over one of the toll exchanges along the main highway. There were hundreds of tractors lined up on both sides of the road and in the center divider. When we entered the toll lane, one of the dudes in the booth just waved us on through. So we saved about $5-$6 at that toll. Not so lucky at the rest of them, though.

Dave,

I'm beginning to think I have more than one screw loose. Otherwise, I wouldn't get in these dicussions in this place.

And I took your comment as just that.

I enjoy good discissions, even when they entail controversial topics. On the other hand, when a thread goes from discussing the ISSUE and turns into a name-calling and insult contest, I generally move on. I have better things to do than get in personal pissin' matches that go nowhere. No one learns anything from it. :) -TONY
