??? What is It ???

I found this at a small digging in the Santa Ritas, there were a few old food cans, rusted out with "hobo" type opened lids(opened with a knife half-way then bent back)... This can is of heavyer metal then a food can, well made and the holes are perfectly placed, one on 'top", 2 on the 'bottom", they look to be made by a nail/punch, to thin to be part of some kind of engine...

Any clue to it's use???

I would say that it was probably an evaporated milk can,the holes were made with an ice pick.A miner friend used to do this all the time to get his milk out.

grandpa told me back in the day he would bury a can of beans in water over some hot coals. At the end of a long day of cowboying, they would dig up the can and have dinner.

maybe that's what we have here? holes could let the steam out??
