5nRamirez Report post Posted January 10, 2014 hello I have a early Remington model 788 in .243 cal. with a 24 in barrel It is in fair to good condition only reason I say that is the stock is the only thing that shows use but the barrel and action has seen no more than 300 rounds and been well maintained. the only reason I am looking to sell is to help fund some new optics looking to get $350 please no trades .. pm me any other questions you may have. Chris Report post Posted January 11, 2014 It would take all of an hour, two tops, to redo that wood. And, the original finish on it from the factory was really bad and covered the grain. PRDATR Report post Posted January 16, 2014 I have one in 22-250 and for those who are not familiar with these rifles they are very accurate due to them having a heavier receiver than the Model 700. They were commonly referred to as Remington's "Budget Tack Driver". They have a detachable magazine which holds three rounds and a 60* Bolt Lift with 9 lugs and the fastest lock time of any production bolt action ever made.
