CouesWhitetail Report post Posted January 9, 2014 I got a new toy for Christmas....a quadcopter for aerial filming....so I have been taking it out and trying to learn to fly and film. here is my first video of Arizona landscapes. Filmed some of it around Scott's house the morning after we got his big buck. He lives in gorgeous country! Watch it in HD if you can! Enjoy!

PelaPapas Report post Posted January 9, 2014 How far away can you go before the remote control loses signal? Seems like it was a ways up!
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted January 9, 2014 About half a mile range. And over 1000 ft straight up. And if it loses signal with remote, it goes into autopilot and flies back to where you took off from, assuming it has enough battery power left and there are no obstacles between you and it. az_shooter Report post Posted January 10, 2014 That is too cool, I like the beer bottle targets on the dirt face at the beginning of the video. Can't wait to see more.
Viper Report post Posted January 10, 2014 Can you monitor what you are filming, or do you have to wait until you get it back? That is way cool.

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted January 10, 2014 I wondered how long it would take before someone noticed the beer bottles! I almost edited that part out, but wanted to see how long it would take for some to see it. I didn't notice them for quite awhile when I was filming it! When I filmed all that stuff I did not have a monitor to view what I was filming. It's pretty challenging to get the shot when you can't see what you are doing, but the GoPro has a wide angle lens, so even if I was off center I usually got close to what I wanted. However, I am getting a first person view system tmrw and will be able to monitor what I am filming. That will help quite a bit to set up good shots instead of just hoping I am aiming well.
