I have been trying to find some new 501s and they all seem to be made in Mexico or some other country. The label is different and it no longer says "made in the USA". PRDATR Report post Posted December 31, 2013 I always wore them and would buy a few pairs when Mervyns would have them on sale a few times a year. Then they went out of business. After that I couldn't find them anywhere for under $38 a pair and started wearing Wranglers. One thing I found was the Wranglers didn't fade as quickly, the belt loops didn't break and the crotch didn't wear out and get holes. When Wrangler came out with the stretch blue jeans I started wearing them because they are lighter and a lot cooler in the summer and at $22 a pair I can buy four pair at a time and if I tear one up it's no big deal plus I always have five or six pairs around that aren't all ratty looking to wear on the job.
