Sportsmans Mesa Optics Counter SUCKS !!!!!

I'm finally ready to spend some money on new Bino's and the guy at Sportsman's in mesa is a complete xxxxxx. You would think if I'm about ready to spend 2700 plus on Bino's he would be a little helpful.

 

SO I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

 

Im trying to decide between the New 15x56 Swaro's that come out in 3 days or the EL 12x50 Swarovision ?

Its because he doesnt have any investment in it. Go to Ross, Gila Outdoors or Outdoorsman and they will spend more than enough time with you. Prolly even have some good feedback for you regarding field experience.

My .02 on the topic is that if you are looking for a pair of binos to do it all (carry all the time around your neck and glass on tripod) the 12x50 will suit that need, if you are looking for a big eyes and something you carry in your pack but put away once you start stalking or that kind then the 15's will be that for you.

The 12's are a lil more variable but the 15's I see as more of a specialist optic.

Outdoorsman they will take you out back of there shop set them both up side by side on a tripod.Where you can check out the surrounding mountains etc and decide for yourself.Try to go early when you won't be bothered by the heat waves as much.Most of all take your time deciding after all it's a lifetime investment. just my .02 good luck

Yeah I wouldn't rely on what Sportmans knowledge of trying to help you make up your mind in spending that kind of cash. They really don't go through any training, and most folks down there don't get out in the feild let alone make enough money to buy the equipment in that price range. Just sayin if your going to spend that kinda cash make sure you have a good reference for someone that actually knows what they are talking about.

+1 for Outdoorsman. They take the time to make sure you find what's right for you and they really know optics.

I guess it really comes down to what suits you and your style. Look at FOV and Twilight Factor, think of magnification as though it was horsepower. I have never felt handicapped at 15X and have had 3 pairs of Swarovskis at 15x56.

I will admit I have never looked through the 12's. My daily carry's are 8.5x42 EL and I keep a pair of 20X's in my pack. My thoughts are if you want to see a knats behind at 1000 yards get the 12's.

If you want to count how many hairs are on it get the 15's.

Check out this review that Gila Outdoor did. One of the best reviews/explanations of the new 12x50 class binos I've read. I had 15x56 and this year went to the new vortex razor hd 12x50 and am never looking back. My side by side comparisons still lean toward my 12x50. Brighter, bigger field of view, lightweight design and extreme clarity are all pros that are listed here and that I agree with.

 

Honestly the power difference is extremely difficult to notice on an animal but is noticeable in the much smaller field of view on the 15's as compared to the bigger fov 12's.

 

Again this is just my opinion and experience and I agree with Gila outdoor in this review.

That's a good article.....and has been my exact phylosophy for the last 20 years. I love 12x for the reasons stated. I bought 12x50 Leicas 10 years ago (when they were affordable) and have had great fun with them.
