Coues Sniper Report post Posted November 22, 2006 Long time reader, but had never posted till now. This i just had to share. I guess this was just a matter of time, i just never thought it would be so soon. Check this out: http://www.couesdeersanctuary.com/ I guess it's a farm where they raise monster bucks and then let them loose in a 6500 acre area so they can be "hunted" Bring your checkbook - 25 Large for a buck scoring 130-144! They also claim to have the typical and nontypical worlds records alive and ready to be "hunted" for "market price". Gotta be kidding me.

Coues Sniper Report post Posted November 22, 2006 Well i'm not trying to step on any toes, but i would hope that this site would not support high fence Coues hunting in any way. Younghunter, your signature hits it right on the head, Coues are a tough little deer to hunt and i think that's why most of us here love them so much. They are so elusive and tough to hunt. But when a website has pictures of deer you can shoot with chainlink fence all around them, and says be prepared to shoot "up to 200 yards", come on. That's just ridiculous. You might as well hunt in a zoo, or shoot the neighbors horse. I think this gives hunting a bad name.
Brian Payne Report post Posted November 22, 2006 I agree with you Kevin K. High fenced animals are like the steroid junkee in high school, no matter how big they get you aren't impressed because you know it's all fake. Hunters that think it is sporting to shoot these animals are not real hunters and probably do it because they can't kill trophy animals in the wild. I would much rather shoot a 110" wild buck that I know has evaded lions and other hunters for 6 years than a 130" buck in a pin. I seriously doubt they have a buck that will go 200" non-typical on their ranch either. I sure hope this site doesn't sponser them.
COUESAZ Report post Posted November 22, 2006 I am with you Brian, But i would rather shoot a spike than a deer in that cage. Even if they hunt them on a few hundred acers it is still wrong.
shortpants Report post Posted November 22, 2006 I was dumfounded when I looked at their pricing. $3500 for 99'' and smaller, $7500 for 100''-109'', $12,500 for 110''-119''. I forget the rest but it just keeps getting more rediculous the more you read. You can even buy a world record but the price was not listed. I think it's hilarious somebody would pay $7500 for a 100'' deer instead of $3500 for a 99''. That's $4,000 an inch!!! Or how about $12,500 for a 110'' instead of $7500 for a 109''. That's $5000 an inch!!! WHAT A BARGAIN! Who is field judging these deer with a tolerance of less than an inch? They are dang good!

cmc Report post Posted November 22, 2006 We already had this discusion on the same site and never got a clear answer on it. I ask the admins of this site then...... Support or don't support high fence hunts? As a note... they also have B&C linked on their site. Uh... hypocrites? Maybe... cmc
biggelkhunter Report post Posted November 22, 2006 People that hunt High fenced animal need to be shot. Sure hope this site doesn't sponsor them. JS
bobbyo Report post Posted November 23, 2006 Why do you guys care if The Coues Sanctuary is a sponsor of the site or not. This forum is a business. The people who run the site need to make money to keep it running. Every species of animals can be shot behind high fences and entered into the SFI book. If you want to get mad at somebody get mad at them. I agree this is not hunting and it barely even simulates hunting, yet there is a big market for this type of "kill". How about the whole state of Texas. Nearly every animal in the state is taken behind a high fence. Would you guys get mad if one of those ranches becomes a sponsor. I think not. COUESAZ Report post Posted November 23, 2006 I would agree with you a small bit. Wait no i wouldn't. Time and time again we are told this is a site for the members of CW.Com And i do not think we would suport the sanctuary site at all. And there are a few of the guys on here that do suport this site with money for addvertising and other such ways and i would bet that most of them would not suport the sanctuary site.
