Drone Use

Recommended Posts

You guys are way behind the curve, drones are already being used to hunt and scout. This is a news clip I saw on Fox News several months ago.

And here is a video of a Moose from a drone. The moose didn't know what it was, but certainly wasn't scared of it.

I know of two different outfitters here in AZ that are already using drones for preseason scouting. They are using fixed wing drones, not the quad-copters. The fixed wing ones have a flight time of over 2 hours, compared with 30 minutes or less for the quad-copters. You can easily cover a square mile in less than a hour, and you can see what is behind that ridge you can't see behind. Amazing technology! You can also use them at night with thermal vision cameras. You would be amazed at what is out moving at night.

I haven't seen a coues deer up close, but watched some elk and mule deer from 100' away on the screen. Close enough to count points ands get a rough score.
