Hanksaiditbest Report post Posted December 22, 2013 />And why do you say the money is corrupting game and fish? Do you think these guys are taking our tag fees and buying houses and cars with it? Money being mismanaged is one thing but corruption insinuates that game and fish is on the take. Come on man.lol, don't take me too seriously, but still i see fish and game dudes driving the most luxurious trucks on the road, while fees go up again....i'm thinking... you have got to be kidding me! I'm not saying G&F is a corrupted organization on all levels, but i've seen some things in my lifetime that just make you go...hmmmmm. yes, i do think g&f should be all volunteer, and under the authority of the county sheriff's office, kind of like some search and rescue depts. nobody should make money off of hunting, imho. the best things in life should always be free. you know how many friends i have that would love to put in for elk but just can't afford a tag? a bunch. it's a shame, really. Felt the need to chime in. While the opinions and frustrations being discussed here are respected, this logic is a little bit twisted and seems to be "misinformed". I'm hoping you are just somewhat jokingly ranting... I hope you understand that there is a little bit more to the Game and fish dept. than writing tickets and sending you a deer tag in the mail... Things such as conservation, management, research.... A department as large as this, dealing with so many various species and systems could not be effectively run by volunteers and unfortunately I have a feeling that the county sherrifs office managing our state's wildlife would not bring your dream of 6 deer tags per year to fruition. Well maybe 6 tags but at that rate there wouldn't be 6 deer in the state to shoot. While i do agree there could be things done differently... As in any form of state or federaly funded agency, what you seem to think would solve the "problem" would most certainly do the opposite. Then again, maybe if sherrif arpayo took over the G&F we would start seeing 220 inch mule deer in pink undies in every unit in the state... At $10 a tag... limit of 4 per year... Yeah, actually i think we may have something here! LOL again, friendly chatter and just my .
Flatlander Report post Posted December 22, 2013 Did anyone else actually download and read the report? Not the news article, the auditor general's report. The one Game and Fish emailed out to their mailing list and agreed to comply with? (Maybe I can find an illustrated version for you U of A guys . . .) I got a very different impression from reading that report from what this news organization is peddling. The most interesting part of the report I read was that they really don't test the draw system to make sure it works. The only QC they have is the feedback they get from people who complain that they received the wrong tag, no BP or no tag when they should have received one. I mean seriously we are going to get all hot an bothered that the Dept sent more people to conferences than other states, and have agreed to reduce it? Freak, I wish my company would agree to send me to fewer stupid industry conferences.

LOL again, friendly chatter and just my .02 hey, if those bucks were in pink undies, maybe i could find one!!! lol....arpayo for commisioner!! really, though, i'm not looking for 6 deer tags per year here. i'm quite content with the draw system. maybe it could be tuned up, but i'm pretty happy with what i'm getting. I do believe that certain hunts have far too many tags, once again, we're looking at a money making organization, that is looking more at the bottom line than at conservation itself. But if none of the employees got a paycheck out of the deal.....we might have true conservation. i digress, however, about the volunteer force. i think they would manage better. i just think the law enforcement side of things would be better served under the authority of the sheriff's dept for constitutional reason. checks and balances for warrants, searches and seizures, etc. i'm not saying we should throw biology in the dump and give out free tags at all. i'm saying we should be served, not taxed, through hunting. for instance, i'm paying for a sticker on the back of my fourwheeler to improve riding...um.....i don't see any improvements, just a bunch of roads closed. while that can be good and bad....i'm just saying we've been taxed w/out being served. like i said before, i know there are some great g&f people out there who probably work a long hard day and earn their bacon just like the rest of us. i mean no disrespect to them whatsoever, and applaud their hard working efforts to keep things civilized and in order. what's more, every position couldn't be volunteer obviously. People who work in offices, work in the field, etc should be paid, of course. But the decision makers, and board members, etc should be volunteer only, elected officials. And elected by those who have recently filled big game tags.
ThomC Report post Posted December 22, 2013 The auditor thought that the G&F could save money if instead of going on trips to talk to other "experts" they could just ask the "experts" on the web. All the info needed is right here on the web for FREE.
