Auditor says AZ Game and Fish wasted $1 million

Recommended Posts

lately, or always?

1 million is pretty small potatoes, compared to what the Feds, State, and city level governments, waste as a whole. However......waste not....want not.

dont cut them slack. $ 1 Million is a lot of dough,.

I read a while back that they are the only state agency that has a budget surplus, even with some waste.

I'm neutral to the azgf, so I have little knowledge or opinion on their operations. However I have plenty enough experience with auditors to say that I am definetely not neutral to them. They earn their money by finding problems, so they fi nd problems. Many times a perceived inefficiency is actually a sacrifice a business has decided to live with in order to maintain a higher level of customer satisfaction. Auditors will label it a finding without even understanding what the heck it is they're dealing with or without knowing the company's core values and business model.

thank goodness tag prices just went up.

still gripes me that i can hunt out of state cheaper than i can hunt in my own backyard.

and fish and games drives the newest trucks on the road.

i think 50 bucks would be way too much to pay for an elk tag.

what's more, we have some of the worst hunter opportunity for deer hunting in the US. and to have to pay premium prices the worst hunts imaginable.

Bojangles I don't know where you put in, but I pay $42 bucks for my deer tags. Do you honestly believe that's a huge premium in this day and age? It costs me double that to fill my gas tank or buy a box of ammo.

yes, i do. it's a insanely high price to pay for the worst hunting available. My cousin in missouri gets 11 tags for free before he has to start paying for them,. don't forget your 42 bucks gets you only 1 lousy week to hunt, and doesn't include the license, so really your deer is well over 70 dollars.

when i go to missouri, i pay 225 for 4 tags, 2 deer and 2 turkeys, and additional tags are 25 bucks each. So, for 250 bucks, i get 5 tags, no license is necessary. and i get 4 months to hunt. and like i said, my resident cousin gets 11 for free, and doesn't have to buy a license, period.

and talk about quality of hunts, MO is not even considered a quality state to hunt in, and every time i go there are deer falling out of the trees. it's definitely a better deal than hunting is AZ.

imho, tags should be free, or just the cost of printing.

the azgfd should be a completely volunteer run organization, money always corrupts.

i'd volunteer.

don't get me started on the price of elk tags. they should be 10 bucks, max.

Well I guess I can agree that there are a heck of a lot more deer in Missouri. That's about it. 100% volunteer wildlife management and $10 to shoot an elk? Wow bud. I think you've got a better deal in Missouri.

And why do you say the money is corrupting game and fish? Do you think these guys are taking our tag fees and buying houses and cars with it? Money being mismanaged is one thing but corruption insinuates that game and fish is on the take. Come on man.

Only a million? Obama gives that amount away to terrorist, drug addicts, the lazy, etc every 30 seconds.

lol, don't take me too seriously, but still i see fish and game dudes driving the most luxurious trucks on the road, while fees go up again....i'm thinking... you have got to be kidding me! I'm not saying G&F is a corrupted organization on all levels, but i've seen some things in my lifetime that just make you go...hmmmmm.

yes, i do think g&f should be all volunteer, and under the authority of the county sheriff's office, kind of like some search and rescue depts. nobody should make money off of hunting, imho. the best things in life should always be free.

you know how many friends i have that would love to put in for elk but just can't afford a tag? a bunch. it's a shame, really.

again, i don't want to seem like i'm accusing any individuals who work for g&f. i know there's some great guys out there who probably work as hard as the rest of us. i do believe the system, however, could definitely use a tuneup.
