is a 25-06 to much for javelina

Recommended Posts

I would like to shoot one with a .50 BMG

Ha ha, won't have to worry about gutting that one.....or even carving it up. A friend once told me the best way to prepare a pigalina is get a shovel and dig a pit, kick it in, fill pit back up. I like making green chili and fennel sausage myself.

Well I will use the ol 25-06 with 117 gr sst. And see how far I can stretch it out[/quote

Dustin this caliber will be just fine! i have also killed javi with many weapons and choice of bullet biggest factor for saving some meat. they are tough animal so keep your shooting ethical. i have seen pigs with half face walking around waiting to die due to hunters taking and failing with headshots. and i have ricocheted few 9mm's off skulls of angry charging javi so shot placement a must.. fastest dropped pigs have been shots off the mark.. arrow to jugular and 1 took arrow through eye into brain veryeffective but messy and actual quite like horror movie seen. :-()

One Can Also Use A Crossbow On The General Hunt I Believe.

This is my understanding as well, unless you have a permit. Crossbow is legal during rifle season in AZ. In other states, crossbows are making their way into archery only seasons.
