Venison pot roast slow cooker- meat looks light colored???

Hey guys- I'm slow cooking a fresh roast from the hind quarter and three hours in it looks really light colored... Is this normal? I know it has another two hours to go but I thought it would look more like beef

It's fine. Coues meat, especially from a spike is typically light. I have no idea why.

It was delicious- tasted just like beef... My wife is an awesome cook despite the fact she doesn't eat red meat!

What all do you put in with it when you cook it? I use either a pork fat or bacon layer in the bottom, then the meat, sprinkle diced garlic over that, layer of red onion and another layer of fat or bacon.
