Hightracker Report post Posted November 21, 2006 I have a couple questions, if anyone can help me out it will be appreciated. When does the Coues rut start & when does it end? I just finished hunting unit 24A, and came across a couple of hunters that had a seen a herd of 10 coues deer (4 bucks and the rest does). They said that the biggest buck in the group was trying to run off the next biggest buck. It looked to them that they were starting to rut. I do not know when the rut starts and ends, but if they are rutting come mid December I will be there to fill my archery tag, since I didn't fill my rifle tag. deernut Report post Posted November 21, 2006 Mid January is definately the peak of the WT rut in Arizona (about 2-3 weeks later than the desert mule deer). There is some variation throughout the Southwest which I list in a table in my book. http://www.deernut.com
