Rounds for .22-250?

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a .22-250 Ruger American. Wondering what would be a good grain of bullet to try out? Bought it Mainly for predator and Javelina hunting. Also what distances are y'all shooting these rifles out to? Thanks JS

I have killed lots of coyotes with the 50 NBT, also used it on a hogolina this year. Worked very very well for me, think I would use 60's though if just starting out.

Mine like 55 gr. Nosler Ballistic tips.

me too

Me three!

I havent shot it in awhile but have 22-250 in a savage. It was not too picky and I probably shot 6-7 different bullets through it. I loaded more of the Noslers for it than anything, they knocked down coyotes all the way out to just short of 400 yards. I am sure yours will claim plenty of yotes!

You can always lay down the standard load, H380 at 38 grains behind a 52 grain bullet. That is my current load using the Berger 52 gr varmint. Shoots good on paper, just have to break my calling streak and actually get something to come in.
