natedogthehunter Report post Posted December 9, 2013 So my hunt started out very slow seeing 12 deer total in the opening weekend with one decent buck that i sent my cousins to get on. Out of 7 tags only one was filled that opening weekend but oh well i thought i have next weekend. Not being able to go out tell Saturday because of basketball games i was a little disappointed but gave it my best shot. Saturday morning came and at 3:30 am i was up and getting ready to head out to my spot. Even getting up this early i did not make it out to my glassing point until 8 am. This was not what i was wanting but went ahead and started glassing and pretty soon i had found 1 buck and then 2 and then 3 and a doe all in a matter of minutes. The first buck i found was a monster of a buck, i am guessing that it would of pushed a 100 inches and it was big enough to fool me into thinking that it was a Mule Deer at first!! Haha but looking at it further i decided that that was the buck i wanted and i was going to shoot him. Then i had a problem the sun toped over the ridge and i was not able to see the buck though my scope so i waited and waited for close to an hour watching the buck though my binos. When it finally came time i got behind my gun to send one down range and he was not there he went behind some trees and made his way down the hill with out me seeing him. But then a decent two point came out so i said why not and followed him up the hill and when he turned broad side let him have it. I watched him jump sky high after the shot and then run around some trees with what looked like a limp or it was walking on three legs. Then swearing i saw it go down i packed up my gear and went down to go get him. But when i got there there was no blood or a deer which really surprised me. Searching for an hour and not finding anything i finally gave up. Disappointed and worried that i did hit it i went to the top of the hill and started glassing again. Finding 11 more deer all does as i glassed my way out i made it to my quad. Heading out on the quad i saw 23 mule deer does and fawns. So i did not tag out but all of my cousins and a friend tagged out with nice deer the biggest going to my cousin spencer scoring an amazing 112, not only that it was his first deer so congrats to him.
