kazpilot25 Report post Posted December 6, 2013 So I went by Game & Fish yesterday to pick up my javelina tags and 2014 archery deer tag, and while I was there I picked up the last copy they had of their catchment tank map book. I've heard about these books for a couple years and finally remembered to ask. Good thing I did, this thing is cool!
PRDATR Report post Posted December 6, 2013 I was very disappointed in the one I got a few years ago. It only lists a few in each Hunt Unit.
kazpilot25 Report post Posted December 6, 2013 Ya it only lists the game and fish catchment tanks, not all the tanks in the unit. I like the fact that it gives me some water info that's not on a standard topo. Makes me feel like I have an advantage. Ha.
kazpilot25 Report post Posted December 6, 2013 Although I will say I was disappointed that there's not a single one listed for 36B.
bowhuntaz1 Report post Posted December 6, 2013 I got mine in 04 I believe from the Yuma office. Go to huntunits.com Pay the $20 and and pic a unit. It has pages of tanks, ponds, seaps, springs ect...... Plus you can go back to the site and review past orders and re-print what you have purchased.
ThomC Report post Posted December 6, 2013 The G&F catchment book is way out of date. Go to azgfd.gov, down at the bottom is habiMap. Click on it and add wildlife water to the map.
AZLance Report post Posted December 6, 2013 That book is at least 20 years old...
Heat Report post Posted December 6, 2013 I was a little disappointed in the book too. I am not diappointed in "HabiMap" however. This takes electronic scouting/doing your homework to a whole new level!
Arizona Griz Report post Posted December 6, 2013 Book was never complete to begin with. It was prepared by a private party.
4Falls Report post Posted December 7, 2013 A lot of catchments are not built or maintained by G&F hence they are not in the book. +1 on the habimap
naturegirl Report post Posted December 7, 2013 I bought the book too a few years ago, but was informed recently all of the same info is online and would be a lot more up-to-date than what is in the book (very outdated).
elkaholic Report post Posted December 7, 2013 well - all I got to say is book is outdated and so is habimap - you really want to look over a unit and find all the tanks and catchments - google earth -- shows all - even see tanks and catchments not on topos or on habimap
