PelaPapas Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Anybody have one of these Nikon P-223 3x32 scopes on their AR? Was thinking about picking one up for my AR to do some predator hunting. I've seen them anywhere between $100-149. Are these any good for the price?

CRAZYBUCK Report post Posted December 3, 2013 I had mine for a while but ended up going back to my BSA sweet 223 I didn't like the fixed power on the p223 but I think the m223 isn't fixed if you don't mind the fixed power great scope very user friendly that's around the same price range I found them for

PelaPapas Report post Posted December 4, 2013 I really like the size of the p223 which is why I'm considering it. CRAZYBUCK- Where did you find your BSA Sweet 223? I'm more of a red dot on my AR kinda guy. Never really liked scopes on my AR. As I usually use my AR for occasional predator and javelina hunting, I now want a scope for it. Couzer Report post Posted December 5, 2013 I just ordered the 3-9x40 p223 Nikon from Amazon for 149.99. I thought about the 3x32 but having some power for coyotes out to the 200-400 range I think it will be a better setup. We shall see
CRAZYBUCK Report post Posted December 5, 2013 I didn't know they had the 3x9 I thought it was just the 3x32 ant at 400 plus yards you need the magnification good deal
Blade Report post Posted December 5, 2013 I've never had a p-223 but I'm sure they're good. My neighbor has either the p or m variable power on one of his ar's and he likes it. Personally I would go with a holographic sight over a fixed three power scope. If I wanted a scope I would get a variable power turn it down for cyotes in brushy areas and turn it up for open country. I have a bsa sweet 223 on a bolt action (4-12x I think) and a leupold mark ar on my blackout 3-9x). Both I've been happy with. As far as bang for the buck the bsa wins, I think I paid $50-60 about four years ago for it. My only complaints about the bsa are I wish it had a mil-dot reticle and the three turits it came with don't matchup to the load I shoot.
PelaPapas Report post Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks for the info! I might have to look into the BSA sweet 223..

I ordered the Burris pepr mount ( comes with a picatiny rail on top of the rings, thinking about adding a halo sight on top for close range!!! Good idea u had! bman940 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 I have easily put over 2000 rounds under this compact scope and I have nothing but good things to say about it. First off, I do some PR work for Nikon but believe me, I wouldn't pass along a recommendation if I didn't have first hand knowledge of the product. I have been using this scope on my Comp/ carbine until I let me son try it out and now it's sitting on his LMT until I get another one. Great clarity and field of view. Stadia lines let you use Spot On to dial your ammo into the scope and rifle. Great price and light weight. I do recommend Nikon P-Series 2 piece mounts for this compact scope. I don't see it fitting into a 1 piece mount. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd363/bman940/P-223%203X/spotonp2233x.jpg
