THOR Report post Posted December 1, 2013 I know I could not believe it! I want to know what that skull will score! More than likely a bear that big wont have a skull as big as the one you killed. Skinny old bears are the ones with the biggest skulls. IMO.

dieselroe Report post Posted December 2, 2013 That 772 pound bear was eating donuts and driven out of the forest. lol Nothing like a western hunt. They killed like 4,000 bears in that state this year.

Skinny old bears are the ones with the biggest skulls. IMO. You really think so? Those berry eating PA bears always weigh a lot, but it is true that their skulls are not necessarily linked to body weight. That bear probably does have a 20 inch skull though. I still would prefer a western bear of half the weight with a color phase coat. Color phases are rare east of the Mississippi.
My Rights As An American Report post Posted December 3, 2013 Did you see the 48 pound bear registered on the list in that news clip? Wow, seems a little small but to each their own if legal. Never taken a bear yet, have not tried, but if a 48 pounder walked up to my stand, I would be more likely to pet it and feed it than shoot it! Maybe talk in one of those cute little voices, "Oh, look at how cute you are! Poor wittle bearry. Where is your daddy?"

I didn't see that...I have killed one bear and probably be my last...he was around 400 lbs and 19 in skull. If I saw a 48lb bear I would probably try to give it a hug if MOM wasn't around. A 48-pound bear in Arizona would be a javelina.
