nboni.2007 Report post Posted November 27, 2013 So I decided to get myself a pair of The Vortex Viper HD model binoculars, but I want a little input from you all, which do you think would be the better choice? Since they're just about the same in price. The 10x50's or the 15x50's?

AZ_SAWBUCK Report post Posted November 27, 2013 I have the Viper 15x50 HD's. They are hard to freehand since they are 15's but they are great on a tripod, lightest 15's on the market! I use Nikon 10x42's when I'm hiking. If I were to just carry one pair I would get 12X50's.
bigorange Report post Posted November 27, 2013 Bought the 15x50 non-HD first...made the mistake of trying to carry them. A little heavy around the neck and couldn't freehand very well. Then added some cheaper 10x42 around my neck and now the 15x50 only on a tripod. Works well for me. If only buying one, then Sawbuck is right...consider the 12x50. One of my buddies has the 12x50 and uses them both freehand and on a support. Almost as good as the 15s as far as magnification, wider FOV and brighter.
