kennyazman Report post Posted November 27, 2013 My dad has the late rifle bull tag starting this Friday. He's driving up right now and I'm going to meet him after some turkey tomorrow. Hoping he gets one early in the hunt so I can have time for my 36a leftover coues tag.

sjvcon Report post Posted November 28, 2013 Lots of Private Land up there Kenny ... at least so I'm told. Get a BLM Map so you don't get into a spot of trouble.
Flash Report post Posted November 28, 2013 You'll need to decide if you want to pay and hunt the boquillas. It's the better elk country and about half the unit. If you do, try around Mt. Floyd, Trinity and Keseha camp.
kennyazman Report post Posted December 2, 2013 So far this has been a really tough hunt. We are hunting outside the ranch and we are seeing tons of hunters and very few elk. Opening evening we had a shooter bull glassed up. my dad was getting ready for the shot just needed the bull to step out, he clicked the safety off and the gun went off!! Holy crap that was scary! That was the last elk we saw. So is anyone else having trouble locating elk in 10?
wayno945 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Yeah, I shot a 5x5 on opening morning but haven't seen any since. Still out trying to help my buddy fill his tag. The foggy mornings have made it tough.
ProudDad Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Kennyaz I had a close call with a buddy's rifle going off next to me. Good thing he was pointing it in the right direction! My son and I are headed up this week for the unit 10 cow hunt. Any suggestions?
