ciomber Report post Posted November 23, 2013 So with this big storm we just had wondering what you guys think about where would be the best option for location to start this hunt. Have been scouting under the rim closer to the west side of unit and out in the northern portion of the Matalzals. Have seen more animals in the pinon/juniper-mesa areas than in the land under the rim. Do you guys that hunt this unit alot see the elk moving more down the rim with these storms? Hunt starts friday and Iam second guessing my plan of action.
markgann Report post Posted November 23, 2013 I was below the rim this morn. The snow was blowing hard froze my toes and fingers to the bone. Didn't see one elk.

countrykid Report post Posted November 24, 2013 It might drive some elk down off the top. But I don't think it will move the ones below the rim down any further. Most of the snow below the rim will probably be melted by Tuesday or Wednesday. So I would stick to your plan.
