Brian Payne Report post Posted November 10, 2006 Hi all, I havn't posted anything on CW for awhile but I have enjoyed reading all your posts and looking at all your great photos. Congrats to all those that have had successful hunts this year. My wife and I put in together for deer this year and drew Oct. Coues tags. Even though my wife had never killed anything she said she wanted to hold out for a nice one (I guess I rubbed off on her). After passing up several small bucks, I glassed this buck up on the second evening and told her I thought it would go about 85". She said that was good enough. I got her set up and she made a great double lung shot. When I got to the deer I realized it was a little bigger than I thought. I taped it when we got home and it went 94 2/8 gross. A lot bigger than my first buck! I didn't want to steel my wifes glory but wanted one more shot at filling my tag so I went out on Monday and glassed up my buck. He grosses 100 6/8. It was neat getting to enjoy a fun hunt with my better half. Sorry to all my old hunting buddies but I think I have found my new hunting companion!

AZP&Y Report post Posted November 10, 2006 Nice job! Looks like the both of you enjoyed a great hunt. No more excuses about showing up late from the hunt because your partner is right there with you. How far was each shot? How far did she practice prior to the hunt? Thanks for sharing the story and pics ! Nice Double Double. AzP&Y

Brian Payne Report post Posted November 14, 2006 Thanks everyone. I like the idea of the double pedestal mounts. I will have to look into the cost of something like that. I know we are going to have them both done but taxidermy is not cheep as you all know!
